We’re searching for a talented and driven Risk Manager to join our team!
Your Day-to-Day:
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify and evaluate HR-related risks including employment practices liability, workers’ compensation, safety compliance, wage and hour exposure, and regulatory risks.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., OSHA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC), with particular attention to construction-specific requirements.
- Conduct regular audits of HR policies, procedures, and jobsite practices to reduce organizational risk.
- Monitor changes in employment and safety regulations and recommend policy or process updates accordingly.
Workers’ Compensation & Claims Management
- Oversee the workers’ compensation program, including claims reporting, investigation, and coordination with carriers, TPAs, and legal counsel.
- Monitor, analyze, and actively manage the company’s Experience Modification Rate (EMR/mod rate) to ensure it remains competitive and supports business objectives, including project eligibility and insurance cost control.
- Partner with Safety and Operations to analyze injury trends and implement preventive strategies.
- Manage return-to-work and modified duty programs to reduce claim costs and downtime.
- Track and report key risk and claims metrics to leadership.
Employment Practices & Employee Relations Risk
- Advise HR and management on employee relations matters, disciplinary actions, terminations, and performance management to mitigate legal exposure.
- Support investigations related to employee complaints, harassment, discrimination, or retaliation.
- Assist with documentation standards and recordkeeping best practices.
- Partner with Legal on employment-related claims, audits, and litigation support.
What You’ll Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in HR, risk management, or a related compliance role, preferably in construction, especially an electrical contractor, or a heavy-industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of employment law, workers’ compensation, and HR compliance in a multi-state environment.
- Strong investigation, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Ability to influence leaders and communicate risk clearly to non-HR stakeholders.
- Experience partnering with safety teams in a construction setting
- Familiarity with union and non-union workforce environments
